I have often told people,” think outside the box,put on your thinking hat !” So today, I am taking a bit of my counsel.
Think outside the box or maybe this time…outside the bowl! (you decide) .What if this Covid 19 lasts as long as the Spanish flu (over one year) and I am afraid to visit the barber shop, will I join the beard gang by force? How will those in the service industry cope with this social distancing et al.? So with my thinking hat on,I was able to ‘think outside of the box or bowl’ and this hit me–Why can’t we decide to track this Covid 19 task force guys and demand to be tested? And when we get tested and test negative for the Covid 19 virus, we demand for an ID card and a ‘Certified Negative certificate’ accompanied with an emblazoned T-Shirt that says ‘Covid 19 Negative’ that will last for 2 weeks subject to renewal?
Aha! You might be asking-of what use is a Certified Negative certificate,id card and t-shirt? I will tell you.
Imagine the barbing salon guy,thephotographer,the food vendor/restaurant,the laundry man,ubber driver …name them that are all at home because of Covid 19,idle , bored and broke.What if all of these guys where to get tested ,if they come out negative ,are certified and given an id card, a certificate and t-shirt that shows they are negative (T-shirt is specially designed by the federal government).
With the id card,T-shirt and certificate ,they can boldly open shops wearing their t-shirts and id cards and run their businesses displaying their certificate to their customers (telling them they are safe with them).The photographer can hang his ‘certified negative’ paper on his choice location in his shop where everyone would see it and feel safe to transact business with him.The same applies to everyone who provides one service or the other.We would end up killing more than two birds with a stone:
- more tests would be conducted
- we would know our Covid 19 virus status
- businesses would re-open
- and the economy would bounce back!
What could possibly go wrong with this approach? After two weeks, they go back for another test, to confirm if they are still Covid 19 negative, before opening up shops again.
I believe if we deploy this my ‘out of the box or bowl’ plan we would be able to open up the economy small and make small-small economic gains as a people. After all,duringelectioneering, millions of t-shirts are produced by our politicians for campaigns, let’s put these t-shirts to good use now.
Who’s ready to be tested? …Where is my Certified Negative certificate?
